About the design
For more than 20 years, Japan Bed has been part of Karup’s design language. A quiet icon defined by pine wood, low height, and an open construction that gives space to everyday life. Japan Bed sits low and open in the room. Calm in its proportions and close to the floor. Inspired by Japanese living, the design creates lightness, balance, and a sense of calm - without asking for attention. In the oak version, the design gains a warmer and more grounded presence. Natural grain, subtle knots, and gentle variations in the wood add depth and life to the surface, giving each bed its own quiet character.
